To be an American means to be be whoever you want to be. To have the freedom to choose who you want ob in life. To respects others choices even if you don't agree. Being American gives you the right to have freedom of speech. To reach your goals without anyone stopping you. To worship any religion without getting hurt. Also to express your cultures and where you are from. To stand up for what you believe in. You can be American and have a different race because every race is welcome. I believe that being American is have a goal or job that you are happy with and is not only for the money. Many people migrate to America because they hear all of the stories of how great it is. Many people come here to give their children a better life. They don't want their children to life in the dark, where they can't be who they want to be. To be American is to accept who people are and where they came from no matter what race, religion, or sexual preference they have.
Chapter 17- Power may take many forms.
In this chapter the snake is portrayed as a very powerful creature. That is why the snake "swallowed" these objects. This means that the snake is more powerful than a king's finger and ship. The snake in this case represent death. Death is more powerful than a king's finger and a boat. The skull represents death. The arrows represents that it has no limit. The image shown above is above is a person seeming to see. That is an irrefutable truth because that person is completely sure what it is seeing. But the doubt what that is made of. This person may have doubt which is called perception. Even the slightest, tiniest amount of doubt is perception because the person is not completely sure of what it is. Just like Descartes when he doubted his existence, that was perception because he doubted that he existed. But then he knew that he was real because he thought about it, that is an irrefutable truth.
The universal theme of this abstract art is influence. The line of circles in the middle represents people. Each color represents how different each person is and how they influence people. The dark colors on the left represent how these people negatively affect other people. The bright colors on the right represent how these people positively affect people. For example Martin Luther King Jr. positively affects people because of his words. The circles can also represent beauty standards and how it can positively or negatively affect a person. The words and representation of these people can either be positive or negative depending on how a person views it.
Rene` Descartes once said this quote "I think, therfore I am". When he said this he doubted that he existed. "I think" means that he doubted that he even existed, which is perception. Perception is a doubting about something or you are not sure about it. Descartes doubted that he even existed. But then he knew that if he was thinking about doubting his existance that mean that he must be real because if he was think that must have meant that he was real. Therefore knowing that he exists is an irrefutible truth. An irrefutible truth is something that can't be argued with something that is 100% true and can't be doubted. To summarize all, "I think, therefore I am" means if that he doubted himself it must mean he is real.
